Let's Save Rio Camuy Cave Park

The Issue

People's Committee in Defense of Rio Camuy Cave Park

We oppose Rio Camuy Cave Park be managed by institutions without caving expertise science, related to conserve and preserve our natural resources - which represents us internationally. Rio Camuy Cave Park is our National Heritage. It houses a variety of exotic species and plants which may be affected, if Rio Camuy Cave Park is managed by people who don't have the knowledge to take care with the environment from the region (Privateers).

After Hurricane Maria's scourge, the government kept absolute indifference to attend the precarious situation which made the Rio Camuy Cave Park unmanageable. Were the volunteers which took the commitment to restore it after Hurricane Maria - without any kind of federal or state subsidy -, where the Puerto Rico Speleological Society (SEPRI - by its Spanish acronym), hardworking together with their selfless volunteers. But the initiatives from state institutions, which are supposed to manage the Río Camuy Cave Park lacked of initiative.

We support that Puerto Rico Speleological Society be the institution which take co-management from Río Camuy Cave Park. They've the social and ecological commitment to manage it; also they have absolute consideration to take care of exotic plants and animals from the region.
