Let's Put a Pride Flag on the Moon!

The Issue

In 2026, NASA will be sending people to the moon, via Artemis III, for the first time in over fifty years; and they should take a pride flag with them.

It is crucial for young LGBTQ+ people to know that they are not alone, that they can do spectacular things. With the Artemis Missions, NASA hopes to "Inspire a new generation and encourage careers in STEM" (excerpted from the Artemis mission statement). This proposed motion would clearly communicate to queer youths that this firmly includes them. This is especially necessary because STEM is often a cisgender/heterosexual dominated field. It would be an incredible gesture for NASA, one of the world's leading STEM organizations, to recognize this, and to help counteract it.

Furthermore, in light of recent bouts of transphobia, action of this nature is ever more crucial.
