William Bill Edwards became the beacon of hope for our community when he served as the first mayor of the City of South Fulton. As a proud resident of this city, I have seen firsthand the dedication, passion, and vision that Mayor Edwards embodied. He was not only a leader but also a beloved figure who always prioritized the well-being of our residents.

Before his tenure as mayor in 2017, William Bill Edwards served as a Fulton County Commissioner. The Georgia Legislation redraw the lines putting William Edwards and the late Emma Darnell against each other! Both Fulton Commissioners decided that they wouldn’t go against each other in a nasty race. Commissioner Darnell won in 2016. Through this role, he worked tirelessly to ensure that the interests of our community were heard and addressed. His legacy as a public servant in Fulton County resonates deeply with all who had the privilege of working with and knowing him. Recognizing his contributions by renaming our city hall in his honor would be a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to the place we call home.

Renaming the City of South Fulton  City Hall after William Bill Edwards is more than a symbolic gesture; it's a celebration of our roots, a tribute to our history, and a commitment to uphold the values he championed. By acknowledging his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to progress, we set a powerful precedent for future generations.

This change would have a profound impact not only in preserving our local heritage but also in enhancing our cultural and historical identity. It would distinguish us from other cities, adding a unique historical layer that residents and visitors alike can take pride in.
