The Gippsland Lakes needs an ecological review and clear action plan to recovery. That recovery needs to includes restocking of fish and conditions to maximise natural recruitment of iconic fish such as Black bream, Dusky flathead, Estuary Perch and Australian bass. Recreational Fishing Licence fees are being used elsewhere for these purposes, It's Time for them to be used in the Gippsland Lakes. An increase in fish equals increase in recreational fishing associated tourism, good for the towns all around these Great Lakes. Commercial netting of fish in the Lakes cannot co-exist any longer. there just are not enough fish. Recreational fishers will drive recovery...there are NO plans from the commercial sector.Government MUST offer a fair buyout and give these families certainty!
