We are making some inroads with signatories to the petition. Overall there are now 2700 signatures. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL, especially the fishing clubs in other parts of Victoria, many were unaware that commercial netting was still allowed in our beautiful Lakes!! Please DON'T STOP NOW. Keep sharing and telling our story. Encourage people to sign on line and keep up to date with more regular posts on our face book page (just google End commercial netting in the Gippsland Lakes). We are meeting with the local member for East Gippsland, Tim Bull, tomorrow to state our case and to identify what commitment the national party have to end commercial netting, save our Lakes from further degradation and to promote recreational fishing tourism. Our economy and our children and grandchildren can only benefit by local job creation. Already we are looking at nearly $400 million from recreational fishing vs $1.2 million from commercial netting in the Lakes. We are still waiting for a response to correspondence from Jaala Pulford and Darren Chester and a call back from the Premiers office.
