Hello! I would like to start by saying that I greatly appreciate all that every person who participated in this protest has done. Your determination to fight corruption and abuse of power is something I admire so much.
As you already know, Joseph Castro has resigned from his position as Chancellor of the California State University system. Just as we were about to declare victory on this petition, news broke out that he not only received a very large check for financial compensation but also was offered a job at California Polytechnic State University. In case you have not heard, Cal Poly has a history of violent sexual assault cases, most of which go under the radar and leave the victims without any sort of justice.
This is absolutely outrageous. How could the Board Of Trustees possibly offer Castro a job at another university knowing his history. His selfish decisions remain unpunished, however, those who suffered under his "leadership" still carry that pain 'till today.
I have discussed this topic thoroughly with several of the people leading this protest, and we are unsure if it is appropriate to declare victory at this time. We will be working towards gathering even more awareness on this issue so that we may finally hold Castro ACTUALLY accountable for his actions.
That means not pockets full of cash or a job at another university. We need to see the investigation that was originally supposed to happen still occur. We, unfortunately, do not know all the facts of this situation, and there could still be much more to uncover.
I will be updating this petition regularly, if you need to contact me please email me (ramizwebti@gmail.com) or message my socials (@ramizwebti).
Once again, thank you all for your hard work:)
