Sign and Demand #JusticeForBabyDavid so that we can get a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and all relevant duty bearers, updating us on where investigations on this issue have reached and give us timelines on when they intend to conclude this case.

On February 2022,  Baby David was allegedly tortured, beaten and killed by his caretaker who is still at large. Sign this petition to demand that she is taken into custody and that #JusticeForBabyDavid is realized for his family and for his memory.

Maureen Njoki in search of greener pastures to fend for her family had no choice but to head to Saudi Arabia for work.

She had to leave behind her family; her husband, who was left behind working and their two children; Peter & the late baby David. She initially left the children with her grandmother, who had more expectations than Njoki could manage. 

Njoki therefore decided to find other alternatives for childcare and left the children with Miss Phyllis Njeri who was her former children’s teacher since she had previously treated them really well. 

Njeri was willing and they came to an agreement via phone since Njoki was in Saudi already. 

Njoki would send Njeri money for the kids’ upkeep and for herself without fail but was oblivious of the abuse her kids were facing at the hands of Njeri. 

Njeri would complain that baby David was stubborn and would find endless excuses why she wouldn’t send Njoki pictures of her kids. According to the caretaker where Njeri was living with the kids, she could hear Njoki beating up the boys and even warned her three times about it. 

Allegedly, Njeri would torture the poor baby by burning him with hot tea, beating him to a pulp until he was bleeding, hitting the injured spots intentionally so they could bleed more, among other several alleged incidents. All this was happening a month into their stay with Njeri. 

Baby David succumbed to the beatings late Feb 2022 on a Thursday night. His brother Peter witnessed it and was also allegedly getting beat up by Jack, Njeri’s boyfriend who was also in the house at the time. As soon as baby David died, the two wrapped him up in a blanket, got the gate’s key from the caretaker and took him to Mama Lucy hospital.The caretaker made Peter clean up the blood filled house the same night. Baby David was later found at Mama Lucy mortuary with extreme injuries all over his body and his cause of death was blunt force trauma on his head.  On coming back to bury her son, Njoki went to  the DCI since Njeri was still at large and still is. According to Njeri, the person she engaged with at DCI asked her “chai yako tutakunywa?”, allegedly insinuating a request for a bribe. While she gave them what she had, they’re yet to get back to her 3 weeks later.
