It’s been an exciting day with club after club rising up to stand with the #FreeTheFlag campaign. This afternoon, Collingwood, the first club to join the movement over twelve months ago, trained proudly in their Free the Flag campaign t-shirt.
The other big news is today the AFL has given permission for every club to wear the Free the Flag campaign t-shirt in their pre-game warmup...let’s hope we can get them there in time! We look forward to the AFL releasing their official statement on Monday. We hope the AFL stands with the many clubs and over 100,000 Australians who are supporting #FreeTheFlag.
On the eve of Sir Doug Nicholls Round we should be focusing on and celebrating an incredible Aboriginal man whose leadership on and off the field paved the way for great change in this country. The attention this issue is receiving should be on Sid Jackson, the 2020 ambassador, and Sir Doug Nicholls, not on the Aboriginal Flag missing from the centre of the ground - so let’s make this right so we can celebrate the round the way we should!
Right now, can you tweet this out and thank the 14 clubs for joining the campaign, and make sure the AFL knows how much this matters to you? Click here to share our Free the Flag tweet.
