Let’s Better Clifton Hill Social Housing - Deadline March 14

Let’s Better Clifton Hill Social Housing - Deadline March 14
The issue
Hi Clifton Hill and its community!
We are a newly formed local community group called Clifton Hill Neighbourhood Collective (CHNC). The group represents more than 50 neighbours who live in the immediate vicinity of Noone and Rutland Streets. The number of people joining CHNC is growing every day.
We are writing to you about the social housing development planned for the corner of Noone and Rutland Streets. The proposed new development will increase the social housing currently on this site from 30 to 114 residences. You can read about this on the Homes Victoria website.
The proposed development is part of the Big Housing Build project and is being carried out under Clause 52.20 of the Victorian Planning Provisions. This ‘fast-track’ provision means that Homes Vic does not need to abide by normal planning law requirements.
We strongly support expanding and improving social housing in our neighbourhood. However, we have some concerns about the design and impact of the proposed plan and we need your help.
Our approach
We are consulting with community so we can:
- Write a submission to write to Homes Vic setting out our collective concerns
- Engage with politicians and other stakeholders to get them involved
How you can help
Our power comes from our collective voice. If you are supportive of social housing but have some concerns about the proposed plans - join us.
- Add your name and email to this petition so we can add your voice to our collective submission when we are engaging with politicians and stakeholders.
- Email our Cr Sarah McKenzie (Sarah.McKenzie@yarracity.vic.gov.au) and MP Gabrielle de Vietri (Gabrielle.deVietri@parliament.vic.gov.au) copying our concerns and our asks from our website.
Thank you for providing your own individual feedback by filling out the feedback form on the Engage Vic website by 1 March.
You can find out more at our website: chnc.info
You may have seen our flyer in your letterbox or at your local cafe:
To see more 3D scale visualisations of the proposed design visit our website and head to Resources and Links, or click here to go directly.
Thank you to the community members who joined us in meeting our: MP Gabrielle de Vietri at 7.45am on Thursday 26 February, and local Cr Sarah MacKenzie at on Saturday 28 Feb. Both were positive meetings and our key issues were heard. Our MP Gabrielle de Vietri has already written a letter to the Minister for Housing and Building, the Hon. Harriet Shing, on our behalf.
