Let’s ban IXL!!!

Let’s ban IXL!!!
The Issue
Over recent years, IXL has become a popular tool used in educational institutions for students to practice various subjects. While its intentions seem honorable, the execution and impact on students have raised significant concerns that cannot be ignored any longer.
IXL’s approach of repetitive drills and lengthy, monotonous tasks can create an overwhelming environment leading to unnecessary stress and anxiety among students. Many reports suggest that students often find themselves frustrated with IXL’s rigid format and punitive scoring system which penalizes them for every incorrect answer, thus diminishing their enthusiasm for learning.
Furthermore, the system does not cater to individual learning styles or paces, pushing all students to conform to a one-size-fits-all education model. This lack of personalization is detrimental to students who struggle differently, and often leaves them discouraged and less engaged in schoolwork.
Statistics indicate a correlation between the use of platforms like IXL and increased student dissatisfaction with learning. Studies have shown that children subjected to high-pressure educational environments exhibit increased rates of anxiety and decreased mental well-being, impacting their overall school experience and performance.
It is critical for educational institutions to prioritize the mental health and well-being of students. We propose that schools replace IXL with more engaging, personalized, and supportive educational tools that foster a love for learning rather than dread.
Sign this petition to encourage schools and educational policy makers to ban IXL and consider adopting more student-friendly alternatives that cater to the diverse needs of the student population.
