Let Perpetual Adobe Creative Suite Owners Use Their Software

The Issue

To: Adobe Systems Incorporated

We, the undersigned, are loyal customers who purchased Adobe Creative Suite (CS) products with the clear understanding that our licenses were perpetual. Many of us invested hundreds or even thousands of dollars in these tools, along with years of learning and creative work. We are now locked out of our own software due to activation server restrictions and discontinued support, despite having honored all licensing terms.

A major issue:

Even when we properly deactivate the software on our computers as instructed, Adobe’s activation servers often fail to recognize these deactivations. Many users are repeatedly told, “This serial number has already been activated on 2 computers,” or “Activation limit reached for Creative Suite Web Premium,” even when this is not the case. This technical failure leaves legitimate customers unfairly locked out of the software they rightfully own.

Customer service concerns:

When we reach out to Adobe’s customer service representatives for help, we are often told that our activation code cannot be reset. Instead of assisting us in restoring access to the software we fully paid for, we are pressured to switch to a monthly subscription in order to keep using Adobe products. We do not want new features or subscriptions—we simply want to keep using the old version of Adobe Creative Suite that we legally purchased in full.

Our request is simple:

We respectfully urge Adobe to honor the original promise made to perpetual license holders by providing a permanent solution that allows continued access to Creative Suite products. This could be achieved by:

  • Removing or bypassing the activation requirement for CS products,
  • Releasing a patch or offline activation tool for legitimate license holders, or
  • Offering another fair method to restore access for those who can prove their purchase.

Why this matters:

  • Many creative professionals, students, and hobbyists rely on older CS versions for their work and cannot afford ongoing subscription fees.
  • Locking out paying customers from software they legally purchased is not only unfair, but also undermines trust in Adobe’s brand and customer commitments.
  • We believe Adobe has an ethical and professional responsibility to ensure that perpetual licenses truly remain perpetual, as originally promised.

We are not asking for free upgrades or new features—only the right to continue using the software we paid for and have relied upon for years.

We ask Adobe to do the right thing:

Please restore access for all legitimate Creative Suite license holders and reaffirm your commitment to your customers.

Sincerely,

Romina Chirre
