Mount Vernon Township Highschool has recently passed a rule for the 22-23 school year that affects all students.

“Beginning with the 22-23 school year, students are strongly encouraged not to bring backpacks or bags to school. However those who choose to must place the backpack/bag in the student assigned locker upon arrival. The backpack/bag must remain there through the instructional day.” 

This will make things more difficult for the students to carry necessary laptops, books, and maybe even health needs to classes and be on time to our classes in the 5 minute passing period. The lockers at our school are confusing, unreliable, and far away from classes for some students. This interferes with our education, the way we learn, and the way MVTHS functions. If we can get enough signatures, hopefully our superintendent will see this and realize “MVTHS needs backpacks.”
