Petition updateLet Mermaids Wear Their Tails At The YMCA
The YMCA Lied About The Company-Wide Ban On Tails

The YMCA has stated to me and many other people that there is a company wide policy to ban mermaid tails at their pools.
THIS IS ENTIRELY FALSE.
In Alberta, Canada, the Y doesn't just allow mermaid tails, they even teach people how to use them properly. Visit the link I provided for proof.
There is a precedent already inside the YMCA for allowing mermaid tails. And the statement that the ban on mermaid tails is company-wide IS A LIE.
We CANNOT allow the YMCA to keep making flimsy excuses that are based on fear and thin air. Especially now that they've proven that they will lie in order to keep from changing an unfair policy.
Now more than ever, it is urgently necessary to contact the YMCA directly and call them out on their fear mongering and their lies. Email the YMCA directly at fulfillment@ymca.net! Call your local aquatics directors! Write physical, on-paper letters to the YMCA! Contact your local news stations and let them know what's going on here!
The YMCA has instituted a ban on mermaid tails that is selective, unfair, and based on fears instead of facts. Even when they have a precedent for allowing mermaid tails (and proof that they are not a liability) within their own company, they refuse to have any internal consistency about this issue.
We need to demand that the YMCA treat ALL mermaiders the same way no matter what location of the YMCA the mermaiders are at. It is unfair that I would be allowed to use my tail at the YMCA pool in Alberta, Canada when I would be kicked out for trying to use my tail in Cleveland, Tennessee.
The bottom line is that the YMCA lied to us, and we need to call them out on it and demand equality for mermaids everywhere!
