Students in the Lincoln County KY School District were given the option to complete their school year virtually this year. Some of the students had to be virtual due to mental health reasons, with notes from their mental health providers. None of the virtual students were told this would mean having to miss out on once-in-a-lifetime, senior events during the last few days of school. But the school is now saying, just days from graduation, virtual seniors cannot come to school on the two days prior to the last day. This would mean missing out on a senior cookout, a walkthrough at their former elementary schools, and being in the senior class photo! This isn’t right. These students are students the same as any other student in the district and as long as they are in good standing, they should be allowed to attend ALL senior events. Please sign this petition to be presented to the school board, if you believe this exclusion of virtual senior students is unfair and should be eliminated. 

A letter from two fellow LC seniors: 

”I’m signing this paper because I’m a senior and all of the other people that decided to go virtual (and were given the option to do so) are also seniors. It’s only fair that the virtual seniors get  to do everything that the rest of the seniors get to do. It’s our year - our time that we have put in since the day we started school and nobody should take those privileges away from any senior. When virtual was offered as an option, nothing was said about not being able to participate in senior activities. Everyone knows the situation that CoVID has caused everyone and every student, and this rule should not keep any senior from being involved in their last year of the most important days of their lives.”
