In November of 2021, five students from 3 of the Edinburg high schools qualified for nationals at the Texas State Thespians Festival. 1 from Robert Vela, 1 from Edinburg HS and 3 from Economedes. They have been given a chance to represent not only their schools and the RGV, but the entire state of Texas at a national level. They would be competing against students from every state in the country! However, recently they received news from the district that they are not allowed to go despite spending months preparing. Even after receiving an initial no, they are still eager to change the ECISD's mind. One of the participants is a senior and going to nationals would give her an opportunity to speak to and audition for colleges/universities from around the country. As well as potentially win scholarships. This is an amazing opportunity that was presented to 5 talented young students. They should be allowed to have this great experience!
