Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren der Stadt Bielefeld,

Sehr geehrte Frau Ministerin Brandes,

das Bielefelder Tanzfestival hat für viele Menschen – einschließlich mir – eine tiefgreifende persönliche Bedeutung. Es ist ein Ort der Begegnung, an dem Menschen aller Generationen und kulturellen Hintergründe zusammenkommen, um eine gemeinsame, kreative Erfahrung zu teilen. Tanz gilt oft als universelle Sprache – und dieses Festival lebt diesen Gedanken Jahr für Jahr eindrucksvoll vor.

Doch nun ist das Festival aufgrund finanzieller Engpässe akut gefährdet.

Laut Veranstalter zieht das Festival jährlich über 600 Besucherinnen und Besucher aus dem In- und Ausland an. Es bietet nicht nur Raum für Tanz und kulturellen Austausch, sondern schafft auch ein Gefühl von Zusammenhalt, Gemeinschaft und Offenheit – Werte, die in unserer heutigen Zeit von besonderer Bedeutung sind.

Auch die lokale Wirtschaft profitiert erheblich: Gastronomie, Hotellerie und Einzelhandel erleben durch das Festival eine messbare Belebung. Damit leistet das Tanzfestival nicht nur kulturell, sondern auch wirtschaftlich einen wertvollen Beitrag für die Region.

Ein Aus des Festivals würde einen herben Verlust für die Kulturlandschaft Nordrhein-Westfalens, die Stadt Bielefeld und die zahlreichen Beteiligten bedeuten – sowohl für die Tanzszene als auch für die lokale Ökonomie.

Wir fordern daher, die Zukunft des Bielefelder Tanzfestivals durch eine nachhaltige finanzielle Unterstützung zu sichern.

The Bielefeld Dance Festival holds deep personal meaning for many people – including myself. It is a place of connection, where people of all generations and cultural backgrounds come together to share a common creative experience. Dance is often referred to as a universal language, and this festival lives up to that ideal year after year.

Now, however, the festival is at serious risk due to funding shortages.

According to the organizers, the festival attracts over 600 visitors annually from both Germany and abroad. It offers not only a space for dance and cultural exchange but also fosters a sense of community, unity, and openness – values that are especially important in today’s world.

The local economy also benefits significantly: restaurants, hotels, and retailers experience a measurable boost in activity. In this way, the dance festival contributes not only culturally but also economically to the region.

The loss of the festival would be a severe blow to the cultural landscape of North Rhine-Westphalia, the city of Bielefeld, and everyone involved – both the dance community and the local economy.

We therefore call for sustainable financial support to ensure the continued existence of the Bielefeld Dance Festival.
