Save The Library Mural

Save The Library Mural
The Issue
The Linebaugh LIbrary is currently under renovation to combine the children's area with the teen's section downstairs. With this renovation, they have decided to paint over the Norris Hall mural that has been welcoming and inspiring the imaginations of our Rutherford County children for 22 years. This mural was gifted to the Library in memory of a young girl who died tragically in a car accident . While we all encourage progress and growth, it seems that there should be a way to preserve this piece of art and the child's memory for generations to come. So many of Murfreesboro's treasures have been lost to the movement of progress - this would be a shame for our community to lose. The idea of improvement doesn't have to be at the expense of such a beloved mural. Please help me save the mural!
Norris Hall is my father and has been commissioned to display his art world wide and what a gift it is having such a large piece on display for all of our children! The thought of cutting it up and selling it off to random people is disheartening. The mural is in great condition for being up in a children's area the last 22 years and this piece is not irrelevant.
If the library decides to continue with moving the children's area, one way they could keep the mural is by cutting out the dry wall and preserving pieces to continue displaying in the new area. We hope with the outcry of the public we can help them see how important it is to the community and help preserve this beloved mural for many generations to come.
Please consider signing this and sharing this as much as possible. The community should have a voice in this decision!
