Let Raissa and his son stay in Switzerland

The Issue

Petition for Raissa Lima and Keanu Bode to stay in Switzerland

I am Raissa Lima, single-mother, flight attendant, 35 years old, from Brazil. My son, Keanu Bode is 3 years old and carry a german passport. We arrived in Switzerland in June, 2014. I had a permit’s restitution denied, a family reunion permit denied, and last week a work permit denied and
a letter from immigration asking me to leave the country until the 15t of December, in 2 weeks on.

I had lived in Switzerland when I was a child, from 1987 until 1992 with my family. At that time I was granted with a permit C in the county of Fribourg. In 1992, I went back to Brazil with my family. My mother kept working for Switzerland at distance for another 11 years. She is a Swiss citizen
and so is my half-brother, Raphael, born in Switzerland from a Swiss father.

Early this year, my mother (in Switzerland again since 2012) had some health issues, my brother Raphael (in Switzerland since 2008) had to quit his studies to take care of her. I was living in Rio de Janeiro with my son Keanu, working as a VVIP flight attendant when I decided to come to
Switzerland to be with my family and give them some support. My mother’s health was delicate, her conditions got worse so I thought it would be good to stay. At the same time, I received a great job opportunity in my field (private aviation). With a letter of engagement intention from the
company addressed to immigration I open a file in Fribourg asking for a restitution of my old permit C. The answer came after 2 months saying NO. The reason: I or my family were no longer living in Fribourg.

Parallel to the file in Fribourg, my mother started one in Jura (the county of her actual residency) asking for Keanu’s permit under her guardianship. The answer also came negative. Immigration of Jura claimed that her grandson is not her direct descendant (?!). Keanu was already at school in
Porrentruy, Jura, having a normal integration with other kids.
The company that was willing to hire me waited until the negative answer from Fribourg but couldn't wait any longer as they needed a immediate crew to start operations.

I left the Switzerland in August to work as a freelancer and came back in September. When I arrived, I received another job offer from a Swiss company. This time, the company decided to take care of the permit as they have it done before and have always been successful. They asked for a
work permit, they engaged me on courses while the process was going on and even assigned me to an operation starting beginning of December when I should get my papers. I rented an apartment and moved to Etoy, in Vaud, to be close to the company and airport. I got myself all set to start working.

Last friday, the 28 of November, I received the call from the company saying that my permit was denied and therefore the company won’t take anymore. Also I received a letter from immigration saying that I have until the 15 of December to leave the country. The reason: cota and numbers!
I spent the last 6 months trying to help my family, wanting to work, pay my taxes to this country I love so much. I am very confident in saying that I am a serious and reliable professional. I love what I do and I do my job the best possible way. I feel flattered to have such great opportunities in two amazing swiss companies. But having my visa denied 3 times, losing 2 job
offers and having a short time frame to leave the country and my family, with my child that is already in school leaning french and enjoying his new home, feels as if I've been sent to prison for a crime I haven’t committed.

I am asking you to send an email to petition.raissa@gmail.com to certify you support my family. I will collect as many messages I can and send this petition to the Federal Immigration Office, asking them to review their decision and give another chance to stay here.

Thanks for your support,
Raissa Lima (and Keanu Bode)
