Education for All: Building Schools for Maribago, Zamboanga Del Notre
The Issue
Education is the key that will open many doors. But what if to reach that key, one must go through dangerous paths to seize it? This is the situation of the students of Maribago, Zamboanga Del Norte.
A school is situated in the middle part of the mountain and students come from all around the area, from the top to the coast.
From the top, the nearest school is about two hours away and that school consists of only three rooms: from kindergarten to the fourth grade and has three teachers. Meanwhile the students living in the coastal area, has to go through what they call 'pampang'. A wall of soil and stone with the overgrown roots is the kids' daily route to make sure that they get to be at school on time.
When lucky, the children get to ride what they call "motorbike taxi" which helps in their daily walk but along with the sudden changing of the weather, this luck soon runs out.
That's why we are here because we believe children don't deserve to go through life threatening paths to go to school.
We aim to raise enough awareness about this situation and funds raised will go to the local government of the area so we would be able to build schools and provide the needed materials in the areas of Maribago, Zamboanga Del Norte and Oro, Dapitan City.
This is a start for we aim to make education accessible to all people, of all places.
