THEY are licking their chops! THEY believe they won in December when the last seated City Commission voted to 'start the process to remove" the historic 1910 Munn Park Cenotaph. But we're still fighting!!! This month the SOS Lakeland Coalition launched a colorful yard sign campaign. Since then, coalition members have spoken at City Commission meetings, citizens have hammered the City with calls in opposition to the monument's removal and HK Edgerton made three personal appearances, two to Munn Park and one to the City Commission. Unfortunately, Bill Mutz, Lakeland's new "big boss" mayor seems to be hell bent on removing the memorial. Turns out he is a member of one of the pseudo-Christian churches that condemns 'confederate imagery'. Yes, the new mayor, is a social justice warrior! So, the battle lines are drawn! Our candidate, Mike Dunn, is standing strong, but he cannot do it all by himself. Donors funded an avalance of phone calls to City Hall Friday, after a discussion of the monument's removal was calendared for decision by the Commission on Monday May, 7th. We have a plan that includes a temporary restraining order and lawsuit, but funds are URGENTLY needed. $3,000 is needed by Wednesday, April 18th, and another $3,000 is needed by May 6th. Can you help? If this monument goes, "Hurricane Hate" that bore down on Central Florida last spring, will have completely wiped out all our memorials... Bradenton, Orlando, Tampa and Lakeland...ALL will be obliterated! This is our "RED LINE". Our late Director, Doug Guetzloe, felt we could win here and we intend to, but we need every one of our members, supporters and friends to participate.
