My baby sister was diagnosed with cancer and given 5 years ,miraculously she mad it to 8 years on her 8th year of battling her cancer she discovered she was pregnant this was definitely a miracle baby . After her having baby Lennox she was severely ill her tumors spread and so did the cancer she spent 2 weeks at home with Lennox and then went back into the hospital from May to Oct with a couple of stays at home which ended right back into the hospital. Our mother did what a mother would do she gave up her position at work and cared for my sister full time as well as Lennox. As my sister got sicker she gave my mom guardianship of him.Between my mother and older sister Lennox was probably loved more then the usual child . My sister passed 37 years old on Nov 29th shortly after his father called my mom and wanted to take her to court for custody. As my sister wanted him to be a part of my mom . We started the court process . At this point we wanted Lennox to stay with my mom and have dad transition into his life . We felt like him seeing everyone together was very healthy for him we just wanted a smooth transition.After going to probate court we went to Supreme Court.On June 16th a judge gave sole custody to his father ,on my mother’s bday we had to turn him over to his father who he did not know . Our hearts broke .After making numerous calls to dcf regarding a transition their was none .Because of no neglect dcf could not get involved.2 days later he came to the house with the police and we had to give Lennox away.He didn’t know what milk he drank , who was his doctor, what he liked .As far as he is concerned we abandoned him. My mom is eligible for grandparents visitation however per her attorney it won’t be until fall . Where her case would go to court to be seen . I know my sister would want me to be a voice for her .This is why I would like to propose the Lennox Law if a child is in a home for long periods of time ,and needs to be rehoused their should be a automatic transitional period so the child can be acclimated to their environment . And if their is a case like Lennox grandparents should have their cases expedited. I have reached out to my state representatives so I can make a change please sign this petition so we can change the way this system is .
