Prosecute Constable Jordan Gilbert for Unlawful Entry and Assault

The Issue

A Nova Scotia Police Review Board found Const. Jordan Gilbert used excessive force and abused his authority when he and another officer unlawfully entered the home of Tyson and Cirbie Bishop.

Constable Jordan Gilbert assaulted Cirbie Bishop because she "bumped into" him inside her home, where the Constable and another officer illegally entered at 3 am after a noise complaint about a party. She was punched in the face. Her brother Tyson tried to defend her, and was also punched twice and tasered.

Constable Jordan Gilbert received a two-week suspension without pay, one year of close supervision and an order to be assessed for anger management.

When asked why Constable Jordan Gilbert was never charged. Police spokesmen Pierre Bourdages said "The Police Act investigation did not recommend charges against the officers. Neither did the review board decision."

However, the police complaint commissioner indicated that's police's decision to make.
