Cllr Alan Amos has this week described cyclists as selfish and dangerous, and he went on to describe fast food riders, who are mostly earning less than minimum wage, as "idiots".

Cllr Amos is the Transport Chair for Worcestershire County Council. It is scandalous that a person can make such remarks whilst in public office. These remarks are discriminatory and as such Cllr Amos' position is now untennable.A person in public office cannot be allowed to openly discriminate against a minority group in such a way.

Many people ride bicycles because they cannot drive, afford to drive, use a bicycle as a means to get to and from work, and go about their daily lives. Other use their bicycle as a means to gain an income. Cllr Amos' remarks serve to belittle these ordinary people and is a poor attempt to tar everyone with the same brush. This is not acceptable. Please take the time to sign this petition to force Worcestershire County Council to remove Cllr Amos from his post as Chair of Transport.

Footnote: Cllr Amos made these remarks in respect of a cycling ban that is being introduced by Worcester City Council which is being supported by the majority of the cycling community with Worcester City.
