There has been a huge influx of Wolverhampton plated taxis operating within Leicester city. This means that the taxi drivers who are plated by the Leicester City Council have far less work. The wolverhampton taxi regulations are far less stringent, they allow for older vehicles to be plated than our council allows and have fewer vehicle checks. This is extremely unfair on those drivers who have been licensed by Leicester City Council who impose strict rules on age of vehicle and regulatory compliance, MOTs etc. So those that are licensed by Leicester must invest more but earn far less now due to the thousands trading in Leicester but not licensed by Leicester. This is Leicester not Wolverhampton, it undermines the entire district licensing system as the governing body that regulate these Wolverhampton plated drivers are not even present in the area of which these drivers operate in, putting our people at risk. It also complicates  reporting procedures when these drivers commit an offence as they live and trade in Leicester but are regulated by a body thats in another part of the country. This must stop now.
