Open the Veteran's Memorial Park in Orangeburg, NY to Outside Residents

Open the Veteran's Memorial Park in Orangeburg, NY to Outside Residents
The Issue
Ever since I was young I went to the Veteran's Memorial Park to rollerblade with my brother and my dad. It has been a while, 2 to 3 years to be specific, since we could go because my dad had to get new gloves and rollerblades. My dad always took us there because it was the most smooth, well-equipped, and hockey-specific rink in my area. I live in the northeast part of New Jersey, and we finally got to go there in a long time. When we arrived, there was a check point to prove your residency in the town of Orangeburg. The town or county has decided the park is only reserved to the residents perhaps because they pay the taxes and do not want outsiders to ruin the park. I understand this, but there is no other park in such pristine condition. These parks are barely used and I do not want to have to resort to a "rink" that is not even used for hockey in Closter, NJ. It has come to the point where there is a rink set up for hockey, yet kids are kicking soccer balls into the hockey nets, ruining the equipment! There are also always basketballs players that interfere with the rink because the town put basketball nets in the rink! My main problem is that my dad is getting older and wants the exercise and he also wants to have fun with us while my brother and I are still young (we are both 17 years old). There are other people who would want to use the many other parts of the park as well, and I think it would benefit us all if we can reverse the legislation to open the park to everyone. Please help in opening the Veteran's Memorial Park in Orangeburg, NY to everyone! Thank you for listening.
