We, an Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation service, have been tirelessly providing care for animals in the UK for the past 9 years. Starting in Scotland and gradually expanding to cover the entire UK, we have encountered countless cases of cats and dogs suffering and dying due to negligence, specifically being left outside without adequate warmth during colder months. This hardship faced by scores of innocents without voice or choice is heartbreaking and needs to be addressed urgently.

There is a dire need for legislation in Scotland and the UK as a whole, that prohibits leaving pets outside without a heat source or insulated sleeping areas. Left in the cold, these animals are vulnerable to ailments such as hypothermia and frostbite, among others.

Making it illegal to leave pets outside without sufficient protection will alleviate a significant amount of animal suffering, ensuring our pets are treated as the beloved family members that they are. Let us strive for a warmer future for our furry companions, and ensure that innocent lives are not lost to neglect.
