Right now, the town of North Haven doesn't allow backyard chickens. I believe with enough people showing interest and the rising popularity of backyard chickens, we may be able to change this

Backyard chickens have the ability to provide farm fresh eggs, educational experiences, insect control, and the compost fertilizer is beneficial for gardens. 

I know that many feel hens can be loud or smell which could potentially be a nuisance for neighbors, but from my research, a flock of 4-6 hens which is what most cities allow for are much more silent than any machinery and things, such as tractors. Chickens are highly social - they make great pets, are especially fun for kids. They make FAR less noise than a lawn mower or a leaf blower, and if their waste is dealt with regularly, do not make noxious odours.
