Legalize Urban Beekeeping in Costa Mesa, CA

Legalize Urban Beekeeping in Costa Mesa, CA
The Issue
I am a resident of Costa Mesa who firmly believes in the benefits that bees bring to our city. Bees are not only efficient pollinators, aiding our urban gardens and local flora, but they also play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem.
Despite their importance, current regulations prevent us from keeping bees within city limits. This is a missed opportunity for Costa Mesa. Cities like New York and San Francisco have already recognized the value of urban beekeeping and have adjusted their laws accordingly.
Bees are responsible for pollinating about one-sixth of the flowering plant species worldwide and approximately 400 different agricultural types of plant (source: Greenpeace). In fact, honeybees perform about 80% of all pollination worldwide; a single bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers each day (source: National Geographic).
By legalizing urban beekeeping in Costa Mesa, we would be supporting biodiversity while also contributing to food security through increased crop yields. It's time we recognize these small creatures for their big contributions to our environment.
Please sign this petition if you believe that it's time for Costa Mesa to legalize urban beekeeping. Let's work together to make our city more sustainable and eco-friendly!
