I am a resident of the great state of Washington, and I find it baffling that we are lagging behind other states when it comes to owning exotic pets. States like California, Virginia, Alabama, Florida, and Ohio have all legalized owning raccoons as pets. Are we to believe that these states are more progressive than us? Absolutely not!

Raccoons are intelligent creatures with unique personalities. They can be trained much like dogs and cats and can form strong bonds with their human counterparts. Furthermore, they play a crucial role in our ecosystem by controlling pests.

However, current laws in Washington prohibit us from experiencing the joy of having these fascinating creatures as part of our families. This is not only unfair but also contradicts the spirit of freedom that characterizes our state.

It's time for change! Let's follow suit with other progressive states and legalize owning raccoons as pets in Washington State. We urge lawmakers to reconsider this outdated law and allow responsible pet owners to care for these remarkable animals.
