My love for ducks started at a very early age. The unique charm and personality a duck possess fascinate me and over time, this fascination turned into an earnest desire - the desire to have a domestic duck as a pet. But you know what the problem is? It's not legal in our jurisdiction.

In many jurisdictions worldwide, ducks are seen as companions and are legally kept as pets. Ducks are known to be very social and friendly animals. They share a unique bond with their humans and are considered low-maintenance compared to other typical pets. According to an Insider report from 2018, ducks are capable of forming bonds with humans, and their care requirements are not extraordinary - decent housing and a good diet are the essentials (Insider, 2018).

Moreover, studies have shown that caring for pets improves mental health and reduces stress, and ducks are no exception to this rule. This strong human-animal bond can significantly boost the quality of life for both parties (Human-Animal Bond Research Institute, 2020).

If we were to get our ducks properly medicated and treated, put up fences to keep them in, and get a permit, I think that we should be able to legally own ducks.

With this petition, we seek a change in our laws to allow ducks to be kept as pets legally. It's not about just me or anyone else who finds ducks adorable; it's about a broader perspective on how we view and integrate animals into our society.
