The Issue

I have always been conscious of health issues and particularly, vitamin deficiencies. For me, as someone who takes their health seriously, ten minutes of tanning a day has been a game-changer. It has noticeably helped with my mood swings and alleviated my psoriasis. Given these benefits, I am perplexed as to why we are denying children a similar chance, especially with parental consent.

Just like many others, my doctor also recommended UV rays to improve these conditions. Therefore, if we have the blessings of healthcare professionals prescribing UV treatments, why are we imposing restrictions? It's baffling to accept the notion that everything we use, such as cell phones and microwaves, might pose a risk—yet, their widespread use continues without question. Almost everyone owns a cell phone, and 90% of Americans use a microwave daily, despite health warnings.

Certainly, there are understandable concerns regarding skin cancer risks. However, as with many other activities, careful monitoring and regulation can significantly reduce associated risks. Educating parents and regulating the time children spend tanning can help balance the benefits with safety considerations.

Our children deserve the option to boost their health through controlled UV exposure, especially when alternatives such as prescription medications might come with their own set of side effects. As responsible parents armed with information and expert guidance, we should be able to make that choice.

By signing this petition, you can help us urge lawmakers to reconsider the policies and allow children to benefit from controlled tanning sessions, with parental consent. Let's not deny our children the possibility of improved health and well-being. Please support our cause by adding your signature to our petition.
