Legalize Recreational and Medical Marijuana in North Carolina

Legalize Recreational and Medical Marijuana in North Carolina
The Issue
I am a resident of Fayetteville, NC, living with mental and physical disabilities. My daily life is a constant struggle due to my condition. However, I believe that there is an alternative therapeutic treatment that could significantly improve my quality of life - marijuana.
Currently, the use of both recreational and medical marijuana remains illegal in our state. This prohibition not only denies people like me access to potential relief but also contributes to the over-criminalization of non-violent drug offenses.
Research has shown that marijuana can be used effectively to treat various medical conditions including chronic pain, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis (source: National Academies of Sciences). In states where it's legal, patients have reported improved symptoms management with its usage (source: Journal of Psychoactive Drugs).
Moreover, legalizing marijuana could bring significant economic benefits for North Carolina. For instance, Colorado generated over $1 billion in total state revenue from the legalized cannabis industry since 2014 (source: Colorado Department of Revenue).
It's time for North Carolina to follow suit by legalizing recreational and medical marijuana. This would not only provide residents like me with much-needed relief but also contribute positively towards our economy.
Please sign this petition if you believe in providing better therapeutic options for those suffering from debilitating conditions and contributing towards a more progressive future for our state.
