After speaking with Sen Anderson’s team, they advised the bill was passed onto a Democrat in order to ensure it makes it out of committee. I don’t like it, but it’s the way it is. Please contact Sen Joyce and only express support for this bill. Don’t wade into muddy waters. This is a bipartisan bill and we want to keep it that way. If anyone has read the bill it has language that allows home rule municipalities to opt out of the law. Cities gain home rule automatically if the population reaches 25k residents or the residents vote it in. If your city is not a home rule city, they must accept it as it is state law. Do not allow your city to become home rule under 25k residents. It’s bad news in my opinion. Thanks everyone and keep sharing!
