As a veteran, former dispensary associate, and former medical marijuana patient, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of this natural medicine. I've helped countless individuals combat anxiety, depression, PTSD and more with the aid of medical cannabis. It is time for the people of Alabama to have access to this alternative treatment option.

Medical marijuana has been proven to be an effective treatment for numerous conditions. According to a report by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (2017), there is substantial evidence that cannabis or cannabinoids are effective for chronic pain in adults, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting among others.

Despite these findings, Alabama remains one of the few states where medical marijuana is legal, but the local Government keeps Stonewalling the the process to bring the product to the people i.e Certifying Physicans, Slow process development for company Licensing, Building dispensaries, etc. This denies residents access to a natural remedy that could potentially replace prescription medications known for their addictive properties and harmful side effects.

The benefits of legalizing medical marijuana extend beyond healthcare; it can also provide an economic boost through job creation in dispensaries and cultivation centers as well as tax revenue from sales.

As someone who has seen what medical cannabis can do to help people at their lowest level - from veterans struggling with PTSD to cancer patients battling nausea - I believe it's crucial that we make this option available in our state. It's time we put health before politics.
