Legalize human composting in Virginia-a sustainable way of death

The Issue

Everybody dies and everybody deserves to have what they want done with their body. One option many people, including myself, want is to be composted through the process known as natural organic reduction. In human composting the body is turned to fertile soil which can be used to grow plants, meaning that death creates life. Human composting is more ecologically friendly than burial or cremation and many people find it to be a peaceful and comforting option.
Human composting is legal in six states and it is time for Virginia to join. Bill HJ-513 was already introduced in January 2023 to legalize it in VA but the bill has not become law yet. If you are interested in being composted or support other people’s right to choose the death care option most meaningful to them, sign this petition. Please share this petition!
