Cannabis was domesticated about 12,000 years ago in China. Through the Silk Route the knowledge and seeds of Cannabis was distributed throughout the world. During early civilizations (China, India, Egypt and Mesopotamia) Cannabis was used for food, medicine, oil, cosmetic, weaving and paper making as well as a means of spiritual enhancement. Biblical records say that Cannabis was burned in side tents and tabernacles. In 1937 Sula Bennet (Benetova) compared Hebrew, Greek and English Bible of King James and revealed that Cannabis was mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as Kaneh-bosom. She mentioned that in Hebrew Bible cannabis was mentioned in following five places; Exodus 30:23, Song of Songs 4:14, Isaiah 43:24, Ezekiel 27:19 and Jeremiah 6:20. She reported that Kaneh-bosom (Cannabis) was translated as Calamus in Greek Bible, and in three ways (Calamus, Sweet Calamus and Fragrant Calamus) in English Bible. Motivated by above information I compared the King James Bible and Sinhala Bibile looking for translation errors.
