Legalize airsoft and similar tactical sports in Kuwait
The Issue
Airsoft used to be a huge part of my life. I've met hundreds of great people throughout the 7+ years I played the sport in Kuwait. All that ended abruptly when all types of gun replicas and air-powered 'weapons' were completely banned in August 2025. This prohibition has not only affected me personally but has undoubtedly impacted hundreds of other Airsoft enthusiasts residing in Kuwait.
The decision to outlaw Airsoft is both illogical and unjust, especially when other similar sports like Paintball continue to operate and have dedicated facilities within Kuwait City. Airsoft is a community-building sport and does not encourage violence, as multiple parents assume of the sport.
The ban on Airsoft and similar tactical sports lacks rationale. Distinguishing between Airsoft and other analogous sports like Paintball undermines the core values of fairness and consistency in sporting legislation. Moreover, Airsoft, like Paintball, can be safely regulated with appropriate measures such as designated areas, age restrictions, and mandatory safety gear. Many countries worldwide have established frameworks to govern these activities safely, setting a precedent Kuwait could follow.
Reviving Airsoft in Kuwait is not merely about reinstating a sport but about restoring a vital community. Airsoft events bring together people from diverse backgrounds, fostering friendships and cultural understanding. They also offer a unique opportunity for outdoor recreational activities that are essential for a healthy lifestyle, especially in an urban environment where such options are limited.
Furthermore, legalizing Airsoft and similar sports could stimulate economic benefits, attracting tourism and opening up new markets for equipment, venues, and competitive events. This could lead to job creation and additional revenue streams for the local economy.
We call upon the Kuwaiti government and policymakers to reconsider the blanket ban on Airsoft and associated tactical sports. By implementing sensible regulations, it is possible to enjoy these sports safely and responsibly. Let's work together to bring back Airsoft and re-energize the community spirit it once fostered.
Please sign this petition to show your support for overturning the ban on Airsoft in Kuwait and bring back the vibrant community and recreational opportunities it provides. Together, we can make a meaningful change, one signature at a time.
