Medicinal Marijuana is a Busted Flush - Legal Weed is the Only Way

Hi folks, This is my first update on this petition in four months. Sorry...but what happened after that update hurt..it hurt big time...and still does... My last update reported that I was going to Wellington to talk to the ones who made the possibility of a referendum on making weed legal a reality...and to ask them to set the date for it as per our petition. This meant I was going to see my "comrades" in the Labour Party (I am a Party Member), The Greens and NZ First, it also meant that I would talk to the National Party and ACT. I will say this...I got greater courtesy from Simon Bridges and the National Party than I did from any of the others...and as much as I respect that bloke that broke my heart. You see I'm a total lefty and my lot did me wrong...seriously wrong. After all, I'm the guy who first said "Climate Change can be the nuclear free moment of our generation..." (thanks Jacinda for your lack of courtesy in even saying thank you for that line by the way)...and I was there at the beginning of The Greens (way back in 1990... I helped found the God Damn Party) and to add insult to injury it was me that suggested to Eugenie Sage at a meeting in Tauranga that a referendum to legalise weed could be used as a trade to clear the way for Winston to join a left of centre coalition! So you might well understand that I thought I had a right to assume that I'd get to talk to them all...but no... it turns out I failed to get ONE SINGLE DAMN MEETING WITH ANY DAMN ONE OF THEM. Except when I crashed their Party meetings...heh heh heh! And I scrub up pretty damn well. Bastards... NONE of them accepted my request for a meeting. Not one. It turns out it was just politics 101...these folk have played their supporters by promising something they will NEVER deliver unless it suits their own political goals...and that means re-election. They do not want to hold the referendum to legalise weed unless it is it is held at the next General Election. You see the "political hard heads" think by holding the legal weed referendum at the next election they will get enough folks to the polls to guarantee another term in government... It turns out that to them the pain and suffering and immorality of our current drug laws is nothing but a political tool to be used for their own political gain... And that breaks my heart. So many lives already ruined by these immoral drug laws; so much of our tax money squandered on this stupid "drug war" and yet these shallow self serving arseholes are still playing petty political games. It shits me...it shits me to tears... It must not be allowed to stand. So I will say what I said to Chloe Swarbrick at the Southern Cross Tavern...which is the only place I got a chance to talk to her...IRONIC...you see we Wellington Greens (or rather as we were known back in the day..."The Green Alternative") always met there...and damn near 30 years later they still do...and that is cool...ahem...anyway...this is the message I asked her to convey to The Green caucus..."The legalisation of Marijuana is a core Green Policy and has been since the beginning. You are now a part of the Government and if you want re-election then you will go to the polls having delivered it because if you try to use it as a political tool to gain re-election when you could have already delivered it then you will lose. You have no choice but to deliver...I have wedged you now GET ON WITH IT" So folks...DON'T let these shonks play with our lives on this...HOLD THEIR FEET TO THE FIRE...sign the petition and get your mates to do the same...Make sure they all know that their futures depend upon getting this done...make sure they know weed reform needs to be done now...it is NOT something that should be made a political game ...anymore.
