It’s recently been announced that the club has created a partnership with Crypto company, Socios.

For those unaware, fans or anyone for that matter, will be able to purchase Socios tokens, enabling them to vote on all manner of club decisions. Club decisions such as goal music, something that fellow Socios member Juventus are now faced with. Thanks to Socios, next season Ronaldo will now be wheeling away after scoring singing SIIUUUUUUU to the tune of Song 2. We don’t want that.

Free for all votes where being a fan isn’t even necessary will result in hijacking by rival fans. We don’t want a Ben White-esque Player or the Year vote at our expense. We’re also leaving behind our older generation of fans. I struggle to grasp this kind of modernisation and I’m in my 30s.

For all fan votes, if that’s something the club would like, I suggest these are polled directly with Season Ticket Holders or Members. 

We all want a successful, forward thinking club, and are happy to pay extra for our memberships etc now that we’re in the Premier League. However, this seems dangerously close to the ‘franchise zone’.

For big partnerships such as this, organisations such as Leeds United Supporters Trust should have been consulted. We need a voice, one that can’t be bought with cyber currency.

We thank you for everything Andrea, Angus, Victor as well as every board member, but this is too much for a traditional club such as ours.
