Thousands of students have recently moved into halls all over the city in an already hard time due to Covid-19. In many halls , due to restrictions being in place, security guards from 3rd party companies have been employed to help tackle the tier 2 rules Leeds is currently under. 
Although this sounds like a positive , unfortunately security are abusing this power and taking advantage of the current situation. Many reports have been made of security guards coming into flats with no face coverings on , in big groups, meaning there are more than 6 people in a flat. They don’t just come into the communal areas, they open students bedrooms, even sometimes when they’re sleeping , to do ‘mandatory checks’, This is a complete violation of our privacy and something needs to change.

There has also been reports of a security guard raping a student after removing her from a room claiming she was ‘too drunk’. Another security guard asked a student about her ‘body count’ , also reports of security guards finding personal social media accounts of students and sending messages asking to meet them outside of the workplace. WE NEED SECURITY WE CAN TRUST, WE NEED TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT.
