The Issue

The Panorama investigation of Dogs4Us, a pet shop with stores licensed by Leeds City Council and Salford City Council, showed that seriously ill puppies from cruel puppy farms are being sold. We are therefore calling on these local authorities to amend their pet shop licence conditions for shops selling puppies.
Swindon Borough Council has led the way in implementing forward thinking policies, chief among them a requirement that;
- No dog shall be sourced from a breeder whose dogs
are kept at a location more than 45 miles distance from the licence-holding pet shop.
We want to see this, along side other measures including spot checks, public traceability of breeders, etc, happen in Leeds and Salford as well.
