NOAA Fisheries is considering removal of the current prohibition on recreational Atlantic striped bass fishing in the Block Island Transit Zone. Existing federal regulations prohibit recreational and commercial fishing for Atlantic striped bass in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Removal of this regulation would no longer provide a safe migration for these fish. I earnestly advise fishermen to oppose this proposal by the NOAA to ensure this species has a future.
