Country singer Lee Greenwood has signed up to perform at SeaWorld’s Celebrate America Summer Series, and we need your help to explain why there is nothing celebratory about imprisoning orcas and other animals.

Since the release of the critically acclaimed documentary Blackfish, SeaWorld's sordid history of inhumane marine-mammal shows, and trainer attacks (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-phillips/seaworlds-actions-represe_b_481067.html) has been exposed to the public—and SeaWorld’s attendance has tanked. Orcas are extremely emotional and complex animals. In the wild, they travel up to 100 miles per day in close-knit groups, and in some populations, offspring stay with their mothers for life. The orcas imprisoned at SeaWorld lead a life isolated from nature and are denied everything that is important to them. They are torn away from their families, and most will never know what it's like to swim freely outside a small tank.

Many performers—including Willie Nelson, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, Trisha Yearwood, Martina McBride, Barenaked Ladies, and 38 Special—have canceled performances in SeaWorld's concert series after hearing from concerned supporters like you (http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/16/showbiz/blackfish-busch-gardens-cancellations/). Please urge Lee Greenwood to join the tide of performers against marine mammal confinement!
