In Lee County the following agencies currently utilize body worn cameras:

• Cape Coral Police Department
• Fort Myers Police Department
• Florida State Troopers
• Sanibel Police Department
• FGCU Police Department
• Lee County Port Authority

The following agency does not:

• Lee County Sheriffs Office.

We have seen the usefulness of bodycams in their ability to support law enforcement’s account, as well as provide a unbiased view into police encounters.

At a time when things are particularly tense, the Lee County Sherries Office (LCSO), should immediately deploy a bodycam program or immediately release their plan for the implementation of the program with concrete time goals. 

Sheriff Marceno, this should take priority, this is about people ... both in uniform and civilians. Nobody is protected without transparency.
