On March 11th, 2020 Leander Independent School District of Texas made a decision to cancel all out of state school trips for students as a precaution to the quickly spreading novice Corona virus COVID-19. In doing so less than 10 hours before the proposed meeting time for the Vista Ridge High School choir and theater students' planned group Disney World trip to Orlando, Florida, the LISD forfeited any refund policy the tour company had in place. Later on in communication LISD stated that they take no responsibility for this cancellation and advised the parents to reach out to the tour company. 

We are gathering parents to appeal to LISD to accept responsibility for poor communication with the group and leading parents to believe that the trip was happening as scheduled, for the very late cancellation of the trip leaving all participants without refund or reasonable reschedule options, for refusing to assist parents in communication with the tour company. We as parents demand to be represented by the people who we entrusted our children to in the time we need them, in the situation we have been put by no fault of our own. We ask that LISD appoint a communication specialist that will facilitate negotiations with the tour company, help parents get refunded. This is the time we rely on our community leaders the most. Together with LISD support we can accomplish a lot more than individual parents.
