By reading and signing this petition, you become an important part of a group requesting that President Barack Obama create a bill offering the possibility of empowerment and leadership for each and every child, girls and boys, attending a public school.

Authors who write for public educational institutions represent characters as male. Young girls read of references to “he” and “him” in public literature which leaves them subliminally thinking that boys and men are in the lead. This form of subliminal patriarchal domination can program and creates an all pervasive view for girls and their future.

The context and the use of the pronoun “he” versus “her” is like a public announcement from our public educational systems advising readers that boys are to be leaders in the world.

Over time, my granddaughter will likely alter her view of herself as she currently believes she can be anything in life; she too will experience the impact of reading literature delivered in our public educational system that delivers "boy empowerment" while showing her subliminally how to be led by a boy or have a boy do it all.

In addition to literature a girls social alliance, the network of people who live around her; doctors, police, educators, family members, neighbors and friends; are predominantly written about in educational text books from the perspective of “he.”

Let us shift our attention to the possible outcomes in our nation. One can assert that books empower men to be leaders and oppress the view of girls. The elimination of “her” or “she” occurs while girls are still framing their sense of self and developing.

One could say these pronouns subliminally impact girls who grow up to be woman. Evidence can be seen in our current corporate leadership. After compiling Bloomberg Standard & Poor’s 500 index of the top ten companies’ and adding up the total number of each male and female gender in the executive staff and board member teams, I completed and graphed the results.

The gender variance clearly depicts who prevails as leader in the top Ten United States (U.S.) Companies. Although one can not incorporate the graph on this website here are the results;

According to issues disclosed on the Whitehouse.gov website under equality, “full-time women workers earnings are only about 77 percent of their male counterparts’ earnings.” And, “the pay gap is even greater for African-American and Latina women, with African-American women earning 64 cents and Latina women earning 56 cents for every dollar earned by a Caucasian man.” Public institutions can create an empowering context for equal leadership by removing pronouns like “he” and “him” from public institutions and their educational literature.

We the petitioners call upon the President of the United States – Barack Obama, and the Leadership of the House and Senate to immediately seek a path to ban the practices of “patriarchal domination in all educational literature.” We ask that you name the bill in memory of the women’s right’s conventions held in Seneca Falls c.1848 as “Seneca Falls Empowerment Act” to offer the possibility of empowerment and leadership for each and every child attending a public institution in our nation.

I personally request that you initiate this cause which will allow every girl to experience a reference to their own gender as leader when reading literature in our public educational systems just like our sons have been able to do so.
