A brand new swimming pool in Yiewsley!

Hillingdon Council closed Yiewsley swimming pool, against residents’ wishes.
Hillingdon Council promised a new health centre. Nothing happened.
We ask Cllr Ray Puddifoot to listen to Hillingdon residents and-

• Build a new Yiewsley swimming pool
• Consult with residents, using a survey in Hillingdon People magazine, to ask people what else they want on the site.

Facts
Thousands of residents in the three wards most affected by the closure of Yiewsley pool don’t have a car:

• In Yiewsley – 28.5% of households do not have a car (latest Census data).
• In West Drayton – 26.4% of households do not have a car.
• In Uxbridge South – 33.8% of households do not have a car.
• It takes longer than 20 minutes to get to Uxbridge or Hayes pools by public transport. Sport England says that everyone whose journey takes longer than 20 minutes to get to a swimming pool represents ‘unmet need’.

Health reasons

• Hillingdon residents are the fattest in London according to Public Health England.

Where is the money coming from?

• Lots of new homes are being built in the area, partly due to Crossrail, which gives the council more money in council tax. The survey in Hillingdon People could also ask residents if they were willing to pay more council tax for a swimming pool in Yiewsley.

Who makes the decision?

• We ask Cllr Ray Puddifoot, leader of Hillingdon Council, to agree to build a new pool and to consult properly with residents. Don’t just decide what the council wants done and then apply for planning permission. Give residents a choice about what is built on the site of the pool.
