James Bluett started this petition to Lea Endres (NationBuilder CEO) and

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon AKA "Tommy Robinson" the Far-Right Extremist is currently using the NationBuilder fundraising platform to spread hate and gather funds for political office. With religious and racial hate crimes at an all-time high in the UK (Islamophobia has 'seeped into the public consciousness' as British Far-Right movement grows) and many other countries, we ask that NationBuilder stops their association and business dealings with Tommy Robinson and any other groups that promote hatred and violence.

To give the CEO of NationBuilder, Lea Endres, some context into "Tommy Robinson":

  • Tommy Robinson is a convicted criminal who has been imprisoned numerous times for crimes including violent assault, assaulting a police officer, participating in riots, mortgage fraud, using a false passport to enter the USA and contempt of court. Read more here: All The Charges On Tommy Robinson’s Rap Sheet
  • Robinson promotes extremely bigoted alt-right views and operates actively as an anti-Islam campaigner, inciting violence against muslims to his followers. His hate-filled rhetoric actively fuels extremism in the UK and many other countries. Read more here:
  • Robinson has a record for intimidating political opponents and journalists who report his crimes. He is quoted as saying, "If your a journalist and you think your office or your home is a safe space, it's not". He took this to the next level by creating a campaign called #TrollWatch to harass individuals at scale - Tommy Robinson’s tactics have gone too far – as journalists, we’re calling out his intimidating and racist behaviour
  • Robinson is closely linked to far-right groups worldwide. He has organised and participated in events with recognised hate figures or groups, such as the Proud Boys, Gavin McInnes, and Alex Jones.
  • Robinson is a former member of the British National Party (BNP) and the founder of the English Defence League (EDL) both are far-right organisations recently banned by Facebook. In a statement, Facebook said: “Individuals and organisations who spread hate, or attack or call for the exclusion of others on the basis of who they are, have no place on Facebook. Under our dangerous individuals and organisations policy, we ban those who proclaim a violent or hateful mission or are engaged in acts of hate or violence."

Robinson's extreme views have prompted a recent response from tech companies like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Youtube banning him from their platforms. For example,

  • In March 2018, Robinson was permanently banned from the microblogging site Twitter for violating its rules on "hateful conduct"
  • In February 2019, using his Facebook account, Robinson wrote "I guess it's ok to rape white women then?" next to a Rape Crisis flyer about specialist services for ethnic minority victims, resulting in hundreds of racist and abusive phone calls to the centre from Robinson's supporters.
  • In February 2019, Facebook and Instagram banned him from their platforms citing violations of their hate speech rules including "calls for violence targeted at Muslims". Read more here: Tommy Robinson banned from Facebook and Instagram

NationBuilder's published beliefs state, "NationBuilder does not discriminate" and we would argue that that Tommy Robinson's views clearly do discriminate and therefore violate these beliefs. Ultimately, we all have the freedom of choice to decide who we associate with (and do business with) and we sincerely hope that you will distance yourself from this hate preacher.

So Lea Endres at NationBuilder we ask you to stop giving Tommy Robinson a platform to spread hate and remove your software from Please end your association with him as soon as possible.
