Students and parents against high school approved gun raffle

Our band boosters serve an important role in helping the band succeed and representing OUR band. The band boosters are planning on holding their annual gun raffle that includes guns such as shotguns, semi-automatic weapons, and handguns. Parents and students have not been allowed to vote on this.
This is not a Second Amendment issue or partisan issue. This is about public schools being associated with guns. In the past three days, there have been three high school shootings.
Here is my personal story:
Two years ago, my law-abiding grandparents were involved in a murder suicide with a gun. It was, and still is, a complete shock. This fundraiser causes PTSD for me and I don't think that guns should be involved in my one outlet, music.
When I even think about a gun, I picture my grandparents and am faced with reliving a horrible loss.
I have talked to other students who agree with me. Guns should not take part in anything involving our band or our school. I have also visited with the band director who said that the students have no say in the gun raffle, which I find ridiculous because it is OUR band. We do not want to be represented by guns. We feel very strongly that it is highly inappropriate and unethical to have a gun raffle as a band booster fundraiser because guns do not represent us or our goals.
Again, this about the appropriateness of the fundraiser for a public school activity, not about a right to bear arms.
