Animals are suffering — not because the laws don’t exist, but because they’re ignored.

In countries like Turkey, Bulgaria, and the Netherlands, animal cruelty is officially illegal. Laws prohibit abuse, mandate humane treatment, and promise punishment for violations. But the reality tells another story:

• Dogs are beaten or poisoned in the streets.
• Shelters neglect basic standards.
• Livestock endure unbearable suffering in cramped, violent conditions.
• And worst of all — those responsible are rarely held accountable.

We are a group of international students launching the “Laws for Paws” campaign to demand real enforcement of existing animal protection laws.

We are not asking for new legislation.
We are asking for the application of the laws that are already in place.

We demand:
🔹 Transparent investigations into reported abuse
🔹 Regular audits of animal shelters and facilities
🔹 Legal consequences for violators — no more impunity
🔹 Increased funding and training for animal welfare enforcement
🔹 Clear reporting channels for citizens to report abuse

Too often, cruelty goes unpunished while governments look the other way. These animals have no voice. We must be that voice.
